Be honest about safety risks of short staffing this winter, demands RCN The government must make decisions about NHS service provision based on available numbers of nursing staff and what they can safely maintain.

This week NHS services in England moved to their highest level of emergency preparedness as the number of people seriously ill with COVID-19 being treated in hospital rose to more than 11,000 from 2,000 at the end of September. 

The RCN has grave concerns about how services will be safely staffed as we move into winter as it's too late to find the nurses to meet the likely demands. Royal College of Nursing
