Guidance: Introduction of shingles vaccine for people aged 70 and 79 years From 1 September 2013, we plan to:
- offer routine vaccinations to people aged 70 years old to provide protection against shingles
- introduce a catch-up immunisation programme for people aged 79 years
The effectiveness of the vaccine declines with age and so it is not recommended for people aged 80 years or older. Department of Health
