The November edition of 'Eyes on Evidence', the free monthly e-bulletin from NHS Evidence'covering major new evidence as it emerges with an explanation about what it means for current practice, includes an expert commentary on a systematic review of published evidence by the Health Foundation which considered whether investing in supported self-management was worthwhile. The researchers reported that "effective self-management required different approaches dependent upon clinical condition, and combining multiple strategies produced the best results."
According to the expert commentary "this report confirms the hypothesis that well-targeted and appropriate self-management interventions can have a significant impact on supporting the ability of people with a range of long-term care needs to manage their own care successfully. NHS Evidence
