Richer, older men more likely to drink to excess, figures show NHS Digital data shows one in five people say they drink more than 14 weekly units of alcohol

One in five people drink more than they should, according to the latest official statistics, with richer, older men most likely to consume so much alcohol that they are risking their health.

Overall, 21% of people aged 16 and over in England drink more than the 14 units a week recommended by the UK’s four chief medical officers, a fall on the previous year. The Guardian
